The 2014 Lafayette Debates

On April 12 and 13, the Embassy of France and The George Washington University hosted a student competition called “The Lafayette Debates.” Beginning with a series of online debates and multimedia competitions, the debates culminated in a tournament hosted by the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies of the George Washington University. This year the topic addresses the question of the value of cultural expressions in the context of International trade.

Le Président Obama et les MOOCs

Dans un courrier adressé au Président Obama en décembre dernier, ses conseillers pour la Science et la Technologie dressent une analyse des évolutions technologiques récentes dans le domaine de l’enseignement supérieur. Estimant que les MOOCs pourraient contribuer à accroître l’accès à l’enseignement supérieur, ils conseillent toutefois au Président américain de ne pas intervenir prématurément dans ce secteur. Selon eux, les mécanismes du marché permettront de distinguer les meilleures innovations dans le domaine de l’enseignement en ligne.
